Today is National Grilled Cheese Day, but I don’t need a special day to tell a grilled cheese sandwich that I love it. That should just go without saying. Here in L.A., we have plenty of eateries that specialize in satisfying grilled cheeses. And, up until this year, we even had the premier Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational (RIP). We kinda go a little overboard in Los Angeles, don’t you think?
This year, the hallowed sandwich’s special day falls on a Saturday. So make this a lazy, guilt-free Saturday and just grab a loaf of sourdough, some American or Cheddar cheese and grill that bad boy on a sauté pan with some olive oil (I like to salt & pepper the pan while the oil heats up. I also yell “BAM!”).
But don’t stop there, heat up a bowl of tomato soup for a little da-dip-de-dip. My personal favorite is a generous squirt of ranch dressing.
Revel in the comfort that this greasy, gooey creation will bring you. Let all of your cares just “melt” away.
